Find out more about my 2025 Block of the Month!

Vintage Tiles Sew Along

I’m soo excited to be running the Vintage Tiles quilt pattern as my second sew along event!

I love this quilt design, every block feels like a pretty mini quilt in its own right and I cannot wait to see the different versions that you will all come up with!

I’d love it if you’d join me!

This is the main information post about the sew along.

I’ll be listing everything you need to know about the sew along here, so if you are interested, read on!

What?

A sew along (SAL) is a virtual get together where we all sew the same pattern.

With this SAL, it’s my Vintage Tiles Quilt pattern.

You choose your own fabrics and share your progress as the sew along develops.

We can see what each person is making during the sew along by using the #vintagetilessal

It’s a great way to meet new quilters, share your makes and get inspired by the online quilting community.

Also, there’s prizes!

When?

The sew along will begin on 17th June

Sew along will run for 6 weeks from 17th June – 28th July.

Where?

The sew along will take place on Instagram, hosted by me, @louorthdesigns and using the hashtag #vintagequiltsal

Schedule:

Week one - Fabric pull and cut fabric

Week two - Make 2 blocks

Week three – Make 2 blocks

Week four - Make 2 blocks

Week five - Make 2 blocks

Week six - Make 1 block, plan your final layout and finish quilt top!

You can sew ahead of schedule but to be in with a chance of winning the prizes each week, you will need to follow the weekly schedule when it comes to sharing your progress on Instagram.

What do I need to do to join?

You will need a copy of the Vintage Tiles pattern – This is available via my shop.

There is no official sign up but I do recommend you follow me (@louorthdesigns) and the #vintagetilessal on Instagram and sign up to the SAL newsletter, where you will receive weekly reminders for the schedule that week.

My plan is to use some Giucy Giuce (for Andover) fabrics and I’m so excited!

If you need a little inspiration to get your creativity going, I'll leave you with a few different variations that I've mocked up!

  • Have only just started quilting/patchwork over the last year or so . Watching Sewing Street I saw the ‘Array’ quilt using Moda fabrics and claret as a ‘background’ and fell in love with it ! Sadly they’d sold out but I had the Moda fabrics so only needed the pattern which I searched for, found and just waiting for the claret to arrive ! Can’t wait ! Have since seen the ‘Fractions’ quilt and a couple of others too – will be keeping your name in mind when searching for quilt patterns ! Thank you x
